RE: Burning DVD Data

Postby voodude on Sun Jan 25, 2004 10:48 pm

I just downloaded the new version 01-25-04. Went through all the motions to backup mp3 using DeepBurner, it all appears to have done everything within the 4.7gb dvd. When I checked to view the data in Windows Explorer, it reads as a CD rather than DVD. Also no data read or displayed. Not sure if this is the right software for my purposes.

Any suggestions?

Did you burn in no-session or in multi-session mode?

Hi Guys,
I also am having the same problem. I am running windows 98 2nd edition, version 1.1.0.98 of Deepburner, and an NEC 1100 DVD burner. In Deepburner using media check it shows that 4.3 GB of data was burned, and the proper number of data files were burned. It was not burned in a multisession or no session mode. When I try to access the disc using Windows explorer, it is read as a CD with no data files present. The close disc box was checked when the disc was burned. Does anyone have any suggestions ? Thanks in advance.

I am having this problem as well. The disk burns and everything, no error message is given, the eject works properly et al. then the DVD is just empty. Nada. I made sure that no other programs were running at the same time to upset the burn process, no Norton, no ICQ/Messenger, not even the screensaver. I used the program quite successfully to burn a CD-R so the burner is working (at least for CDs).

Operating system Windows XP, Burner Sony DVD RW DW-U12A, version 100, just downloaded on Feb 08.

DVD data disk not seen by DeepBurner

Postby Guest on Wed Feb 11, 2004 10:17 pm

I had the same problem. Burned 3.5 gig on a DVD disk and windows explorer would not see it.

I then went to my Easy CD Creator software and added 1 small file and burned it to the same disk. I got the message that my previous session may not be readable as it was created with another software. What the hek, I can't read it anyway so I said burn the file. After about 30 seconds the file was done. I then opened windows explorer and all my files from the previous burn was visible but not the one I just burned with Easy CD Creator. I don't know what this means but at least I can access my 3.5 gig of data.
The DVD was burned on a NEC 2500A

DVD burning of data

Postby EMLCR1770 on Mon Feb 16, 2004 1:43 pm

Does anyone have any suggestions for this problem? At least 5 people are having the same problem where burned data on DVD's can not be recognized by windows explorer. No one has had any suggestions so far.
Thanks in advance.

Data is always being recorded but in some cases windows cache mechanism doesn't update info for a particular disk after burning.

You need to reboot your computer in order the see the results.

Hi,

I'm having a similarish problem...

The software (96 and 104 - tried both) only sees the discs as CD-ROMs, not DVDs. It records upto about 85mb then refuses to record more.

Any ideas, please?

NEC DVD Recorder; DVD- disc; Win XP; Athlon 3200; 1.5GB RAM.

Cheers. WT.

RE: burning data onto DVD

Postby emlcr1770 on Tue Feb 17, 2004 8:03 pm

To Admin,
I have rebooted the computer, and still the data can not be found on the disc. When the drive tries to access the burned data disc, it gives the windows "Drive not available" error message. I think this indicates that the disc was not finalized or closed properly even though I burned it as a single session, and made sure the disc was closed. A media checker shows that the files are on the disc, just not accessible by windows explorer or any other program. Should the disc be burned as a particular file format such as an iso file, or burned to the Joliet standard? Any other further suggestions? Not being able to burn a data disc is extremely frustrating. Thanks in advance for your response.

I'm having a similar problem, except that I *can* see the data. My problem is that recording 4.7GB of data to DVD-R completes after writing 800MB. A 4.5GB file I tried to burn was cut off after 800MB. This also happens when creating an ISO file from DeepBurner. What gives?

Blank Disk after Burn Process

Postby attacktwinkie on Tue Aug 03, 2004 3:29 pm

:x

OK i am trying to burn an ISO... i've tried this on two different machined with the same results. The disk appears to have something burned on it, however when pulled up in Windows Explorer(even after reboot) no files appear. I know the Iso is good because I'm able to burn a good copy using Roxio Media Center 7.

Machine 1
Dell Latitude laptop
WinXP SP1
Verbatim CD-R Media

Machine 2
HP-Compaq
HL-DT-ST RW/DVD
Win XP SP1
TDK CD-RW

I have been reading a lot on the forums i have seen a lot of people with the same type of problem but no fixes? I have heard many good things about this software and would really like to use it (I like the freeware licence) any help or solutions would be great!!

Roxio not compatible

Postby BruceB on Thu Aug 05, 2004 9:43 pm

Roxio runs OK on some machines, but is not compatible with Deepburner and other DVD burners for the reason that the UDF file format of Roxio is proprietary. This could be a long topic. Roxio admits this is an issue, and has posted registry key deletion information to cure it. At the worst, you can lose the drive and your NTFS, not just the coaster. Microsoft skirts this issue too in a couple of Q documents, but it is real.

Files not visible on DVD after successful burning Data DVD

Postby guest on Tue Aug 31, 2004 9:15 pm

I tried burning data to DVD-RW. At the end of the process the dvd was ejected and I thought everything was ok. I reloaded the DVD to check if I could see the files with windows explorer, but the explorer showed I had an Audio CD in the drive with one track on it! Windows media player even started up to play the track but naturally couldn't.

I tried burning a smaller test file with the same result, so it was time to check out the DeepBurner forums.

I read "admin"s post about windows not updating a drives content after burning and thought I'd try just ejecting and reloading the dvd and to my delight, it worked.

Summary:
Everytime I burn a data dvd, I have to re-eject the dvd and then reload it after burning before windows explorer reads the contents correctly.

I am running Win98 on a Pentium III 800MHz PC. I use the free version of DeepBurner.
