I have the same problem with my Plextor PX-712A Drive. I can burn the DVD with the max speed only :-(

Or worse: it will show 8x writing but I suspect that it's still writing at 4x as burning of 4GB took about 27 minutes :-(

I looked at the To-Do list and I haven't found entry for this problem. Any hints if it was solved or not?

(Sorry my english) i have an samsung cdrw (1 year old) in the last month i can select another speed for the write, but i must reinstall the windows (w2k sp4) and after i cant select another speed just maximum. what is it? :?:

Please try different mediums.. I guess it could be the problem here. You may also want to reinstall DeepBurner, as well.

How about that it shows the max. burnspeed but you can manualy select a slower speed (peer keyboard... mybe you press 8 for 8x or 12 for 12x ....) but you cant select higher speeds then found by deepburner
