Optimum Write Speed Control

Postby gecko on Thu Mar 03, 2005 6:27 pm

Not sure if this is a bug or a lacking feature,
but when using a Yamaha CRW-F1 if I burn something to a Digital Vinyl CDR
(Verbatim 16x media), and just leave the burn speed at 'Max' it tries to write
the disc at the drives maximum speed of 44x rather than the CDRs rated
maximum speed of 16x resulting in a coaster - although DeepBurner reports
it completed successfully.
I have to explicitly tell it to use a speed of 16x or slower to achieve a successful burn.
Not sure if this problem also occurs in the Pro version or not...
One way around this is to enable the drives 'Optimum Write Speed Control'
allowing it to drop to a lower speed if the media does not seem to be able
to handle the speed at which the burn is initiated...

forgot to mention that DeepBurner (Free version) does not seem to enable or
support optimum write speed control, not sure if there is any way to enable the
feature outside of the burning software & have it stay in effect...

Thanks for your suggestion. We'll surely take it into consideration when creating a new version!
