Error:Disk not ready. It is possibly busy or empty.

I have recently downloaded Deepburner free edition to enable me to back all my files,photos,pictures and music. After following the instructions I proceeded onto `BURN' and got an error message "Disk not ready. It is possibly busy or empty". I am just a novice in this respect and have been using CD's to back up my files by using XP automated system which unfortunately does not extend to writing to DVD's. I am not sure whether I have to format the new DVD and how I would go about doing it.

Can any one help or am I better going back to the tried and tested CD writing.

Try to use another medium brand, possible it will help.
