Picture files backed up on DVD but are not able to be opened

Postby PFATL on Fri Jan 11, 2008 11:53 pm

I backed up my Hard drive on Philips DVD+R 4.7Gb discs so that I could perform a system recovery. I did this by using the create a data cd option and all went ok.

I am now trying to copy the files back on to the hard drive.
Problem 1.
I am having trouble as XP does not recognise some of the discs.
I have to first open one of the discs that is readable, then eject that Disc and then
insert the one that is not recognisable and then it loads up.
Problem 2
I can then explore the disc and have been able to copy some of the files to the hard drive.
However a lot of the JPG files which are visible in the folders on the Disc will not open with Microsoft Office picture manager and I get an error message MOPM has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Problem 3
If I try to copy the file to the hard drive, I get a dialogue box (Error copying file or folder)
and the message "Cannot copyDSCF4776: the parameter is incorrect.

I was able to copy and burn a copy of this disc, using SONIC but the same problems occurr with that copy.

I really need to recover these files, does anyone have any ideas?

Obviously this is the promlem of your dvd-r's or dvd drive.

Most probably it because of low-grade medium you've used for back up.
