I would really appreciate some help with this. Thank you.

I am using the 1.1.0.117 version of DB, with Win98 and a Compag Disc CD-RW Drive. I have received the message that the drive was not found. In the pull down,, no drives appear in it either. I have tried clicking the box to disable the initialization of ASPI, but in the log that shows when looking for the drive, it still says that it is initializing system ASPI. I have Roxio' CD Burner and it does recognize that I have a F drive burner. So now where do I go from here?

No drives found!

Postby Guest on Fri Mar 04, 2005 4:47 am

I have a 300MHz Dell Dimension PC with a hp cd-writer 9350i.
I am running Windows 98 on it.
I downloaded DeepBurner v1.3.6.168 to burn an ISO image and get the following:

ASPI initialized
Looking for available drives...
No drives found!

The result is the same whether or not the "Initialize system ASPI first" setting is checked. My hp drive is not available in the other project types either.

i've problems as well

Deepburner v1.3.6.168
Windows 98 SE with latest patches applied
MSI DVD-ROM drive + ASUS CD-RW 52x24x52x

and yes, same problems as listed above, although before i reinstalled win98 it worked - but what ASPI software did i use? no idea.

Now i tried Nero's ASPI package, Adaptec's ASPI, and both have the same result.

Found a solution for my trouble!

Great news - Ive found a solution!
this may or may not work with your setup, so just try to see if this works for you too

Reset the ASPI layer by going here

http://www.bhacorp.com/download/aspi/aspi.html

and at the bottom you can download their tool to use the ASPI files that are on your Windows cd.
quote from that website -
This program cannot be used under Windows NT, 2000 or XP

this solved the problem of 'Drives not found' on my computer.[/i]
