Deep Ripper problem with track 1

I have been using deep ripper for about a year and it works OK, EXCEPT that when ripping an audio CD the first track is always foreshortened to a few bars (typically 4K instead of several megabytes). If repeating with just track 1 selected it works OK. Darned nuisance ! Anyone have any ideas ?
